The echoes of melodious harmony filled the air at the Tygerberg International Eisteddfod as Curro Durbanville’s junior and senior choirs left a lasting impression with their outstanding performances at Cape Town City Hall on 1 September 2023. In a night filled with musical enchantment, Curro Durbanville’s Senior Choir secured a remarkable second-place finish, falling short of the top spot by the slimmest of margins, proving that their talent knows no bounds. The audience was treated to a captivating display of vocal prowess that left them in awe.

The Junior Choir proudly hoisted the first-place trophy as a testament to their dedication and musical excellence. Their performance was nothing short of awe-inspiring, leaving no doubt that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of choral music. “The accolades showered upon these gifted young singers are well deserved. The Curro Durbanville family couldn’t be prouder of these talented learners who poured their hearts and souls into every note and every lyric” says Mr Riaan Stroebel, Executive Head of Curro Durbanville.

Special recognition is due to the tireless efforts of Mrs. Jeanne Maritz, Mrs. Lina Hattingh, Mr. Willem Luitingh, and Mrs. Anine Erlank, whose dedication and passion have guided these young talents to their triumphant moment. Their leadership and commitment are nothing short of remarkable, and Curro Durbanville considers itself fortunate to have such exemplary mentors shaping the future of its choirs.
