Creston College learners selected for international hockey tour to the Netherlands

Simoné van Heerden and Zaiah Dennis, learners from Creston College in KwaZulu-Natal, have been selected to represent South Africa on the 2025 Into Africa Sports (IAS) Invitational Hockey Tour to the Netherlands. The tour, set to take place from 6 to 16 October, will bring together top young players from across the country to train, compete, and experience European hockey at its highest level.

A proud moment for Creston College

Simoné and Zaiah’s selection reflects their consistent growth and drive on the hockey field. Their school community has rallied around the announcement, with Creston College recognising this as a standout achievement in their sporting journey.

Karen Boland, marketer at Creston College, shared her excitement: ‘We’re proud of Simoné and Zaiah’s hard work and look forward to supporting them on this incredible journey!’

High-level training and cultural exchange

The tour, which is being organised by Into Africa Sports, includes intense training sessions with international coaches and matches against some of the Netherlands’ leading hockey clubs. The Netherlands has long been regarded as a powerhouse in world hockey, making this an ideal environment for player development.

It will also expose the learners to key cultural sites. Participants will visit cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht, explore the Efteling theme park, and attend a live Hoofdklasse match—one of Europe’s most competitive hockey leagues.

The IAS Invitational Hockey Tour is open to selected learners from across South Africa. Participants are chosen through national pre-season hockey festivals, ensuring a high calibre of talent. The tour package covers all essentials: flights, meals, transfers, and full playing kits.
