Waterstone College cricket team shines on India tour

Waterstone College’s 1st Cricket team recently embarked on an unforgettable 10-day tour in India, where they tested their skills against top schools and renowned academies in Kolkata. The team gained invaluable experience, securing two victories against strong opposition. They competed in eight matches.

 

 

A competitive challenge

The tour featured fixtures against prestigious institutions such as Asian International School and Harvard International Boys School, as well as respected cricket academies like the Yuvraj Singh Academy and Behala Cricket Academy. These matchups pushed the players to elevate their game, honing both their technical skills and strategic play.

 

Standout performances

Several players delivered exceptional individual performances:

  • Batting: Taahir Mia led the charge with 298 runs at an average of 42.57, including an unbeaten 86 against Chandannagar Sporting Club to secure a crucial victory. Huzaifah Valli made a strong contribution with 225 runs at an average of 32.14.
  • Bowling: Zahid Bismillah and Gregory Ashby spearheaded the attack, claiming 11 and 9 wickets, respectively.

The tour was an opportunity for team bonding, skill development, and exposure to international cricketing conditions.
