Learners often grow through the environments that support them, and Busisiwe Moyo embodies that journey fully – first as a learner at Meridian Cosmo City, and now as part of Curro’s business engineering team. Her experience reflects how school communities can shape confidence, identity, and purpose.

Looking back on her high-school years, Busisiwe says: ‘Coming across my end-of-high-school speech recently reminded me just how deeply that season shaped me. It wasn’t just about academics – it was about becoming. I was moulded by the people, the values, and the community that walked that journey with me.’

Those early experiences remain central to how she views education. In her original high school speech, she shared: ‘When I began scribbling my Meridian High School career on a blank page, I was anxious and had no idea what one chapter would turn into with the new people – who knew they would become family away from family.’

Lessons that last

Busisiwe describes her school years as a time of learning that extended far beyond textbooks. ‘In the years I spent here, I have learnt what no other place could have taught me. I was exposed to life in the best way with the best people.’

Her message to her peers revealed a strong sense of perspective: ‘I learnt that I may not be the strongest, the smartest, the bravest, but at the very moment with the right people, everything finally got into perspective.’ She reminded her classmates that challenges ease with time and good moments endure. ‘Everything is temporary; the tough times I faced will pass and the good moments won’t fade.’

She continued: ‘To get here, it was not a one-man show since the teachers have been the most awesome people to talk to and get advice from. They reminded me that things won’t always be easy, but there will always be people willing to help.’

Returning with purpose

Now working in the Curro family, Busisiwe feels connected to the same environment that once shaped her. ‘Being part of the Curro team feels like coming home to the same heart that once shaped me. Those memories still live in me, and I’m grateful for a place that helped form not just my education, but who I am.’

Her passion for education drives her vision for the future. ‘My dream is simple: to witness education reach every learner, not just the privileged few,’ she says. She believes deeply in purpose-driven work. ‘Being part of an organisation that has chosen purpose over everything reminds me that impact matters more than just a job.’
